Computer Desk with Hutch

Some people may not even know what a hutch is. Having the hutch attached to the desk means there's a bookshelf type addition on the back of the desk that is using for storing papers, books, CDs, whatever you need. It tends to complete the look of a desk and is used when you don't need to hang something directly above the desk like a bulletin board or a calendar. There's always a cutout space for your monitor, with shelf space around it for anything else you need to store. Aesthetically I think they look better, but only if part of a complete set and the hutch generally means you'd put the desk against a wall and not out in the middle of the room.

The back of the hutch can be open or closed. The closed panel back definitely looks more professional, especially if it matches the wood grain and color of the resk of the unit. Open back works too, and can sometimes be cheaper, but you lose the ability to post anything to the will in between one of the cubby holes.
